Accountancy

Diploma Option: National Diploma in Accountancy
Programme Philosophy
The philosophy of this programme is to produce graduates with middle level manpower, who can effectively perform a range of functions in the field of Accountancy and who understand the principles of Financial Accounting and their application and implication in business.
Programme Objectives
- Demonstrate basic knowledge of financial operations of different types of business
- Assist in collection, recording, processing and integration of basic data for investment decisions; prepare financial accounts; assist in budget plans
- Interpret/analyze basic financial statistics; carry out auditing and record keeping; produce balance sheets
Duration
4 semesters of 17 weeks each. Students are expected to register a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 20 credit units per semester.
Business Administration and Management

Programme Philosophy
The department is established to produce competent graduates with vast practical and theoretical knowledge to carry out activities in the business sector, create and effectively manage business ventures, use business application software, and create clear, concise business documents such as memos, reports and executive summaries.
Programme Objectives
- Understand business concepts, terms and theories; apply to solve management problems
- Carry out effective purchasing, sales advertising, storage and preservation of materials; keep records of financial transactions
- Interpret basic statistical data; evaluate investment assets; assist in preparation and analysis of short and long term budget plans
- Conduct simple structured surveys on any aspect of business; carry out inspection and auditing of books and records
